Well, I believe in learning and always try to learn something new. Here, I would like to talk about a cooking skill which I learned, but it was really a difficult task for me. I learnt this skill during lockdown in covid-19 when I was free at home; it was the best time to utilize on this necessary skill. As I have planned to go abroad for my higher education, so I had to learn this skill to prepare food for myself over there.
Before learning this, I didn’t have knowledge about cooking. Then, I decided to learn this skill with the help of my mother as she is very good cook and makes dishes very delicious. However, it was not a cup of tea for me to learn and I was taking too much time to understand the process. Even, I took a lot of time to learn the spices names. I failed many times to add proper ingredients and spices in vegetables and she used to teach me in a very polite manner again and again and also inspired me to learn.
Besides this, the most difficult part of cooking was learning about round flat bread (Roti). I was not able to shape it properly or sometimes it was harder to eat. Then, she advised me about the quantity of dough in order to give round shape to bread or chapati. And I didn’t lose my hope and after the hard work of around one month, I learnt cooking skill in my teenage. In addition, I also learnt some new dishes with the assistance of YouTube channels.
After learning this skill, I felt over the moon because now I am not dependent on anyone for food. Now, I consider myself a good cook and on weekends, I make new dishes to serve my family. So, this is the challenging skill which I learned.
